In freaky Orwellian technology news: I vaguely recall someone telling me about this (perhaps on this blog?), but I just checked it out for the first time. It's a rather impressive computerized 20 questions game that learns from each game and gets better the more people play it. It got everyday things like "popcorn" and "paper shredder" quite easily, so I decided to try something more conceptually challenging; it guessed "fear" in twenty questions as well. You might stumble on something ordinary that it might have had little experience with, in which case it will keep guessing until 30 before it gives up. It seems rarely to be stumped after 30 questions. posted by Grimshizzle
